Chabad-Lubavitch

Our Chabad center is an affiliate of the worldwide Chabad Lubavitch movement. The movement has established over 4,000 centers across the globe inspired by the leadership and guidance of the ‘Rebbe’, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of blessed memory.

Chabad is dedicated to strengthening Jewish identity in a nurturing and non-judgmental environment. Its endeavor is to share the beauty of authentic Jewish values and make them relevant and meaningful in the modern world.

Chabad of Sussex County

The Chabad center in Sussex County, NJ was established in 2002. The center offers a full array of Jewish programming and services for all ages, regardless of background or affiliation.

Our community consists of Jews – and non-Jews - from a colorful range of backgrounds and levels of observance who are by no means all ‘Orthodox’. Chabad is also the active Jewish presence in many local government and community institutions.

The location of our facility at 266 Woodport Rd in Sparta was purchased in 2014. Renovations were soon made to create a lovely Synagogue and Chabad activity space. The community is growing! Plans are now underway for further renovation and expansion of the site.

Meet The Team

Rabbi Mendel and Chava Mushka Dubov are co-directors of the Chabad Center.

Mendel grew up in Wimbledon, UK and attended Yeshivot in England, France, and the US. After 2 years of educational and community work in Melbourne, Australia, he received rabbinical ordination from the central Lubavitch Yeshiva in Brooklyn, NY.

In addition to his work at Chabad, Rabbi Dubov is a faculty member at the Rabbinical College of America (Morristown, NJ) and a popular columnist at Chabad.org and Jewish.tv. He has published several books on Jewish thought, including his recent bestselling "Shall We Have Another? A Jewish Approach To Family Planning".

Chava Mushka is a native of Rockaway, NJ. After graduating the Lubavitch high school in
Toronto, Canada, she went on to receive her diploma in education from the Beth Chaya Mushka Seminary in Safed, Israel, and subsequently taught in Jewish schools in NJ and NYC.

In addition to the day to day running of the Chabad, Chava is also the director of the Chabad Hebrew School, and oversees all programming for women and youth.

Mendel and Chava Mushka were married in 2010 and are the grateful parents of a growing
family. The Dubov children are also active members of the Chabad Team, and help out with
many programs and activities.

From our family to yours, we look forward to welcoming you at Chabad!
